Pastorale was originally a cello solo written with the sole purpose of showing off the rich and beautiful tones of the cello. This piece has been transcribed for viola but keeps a lot of the depth. Based in the key of C major the piece emphasizes the low strings and gives the player plenty of room to play with their own interpretation.
